Study on bonding properties between arc surfacing layers and 1045 steel substrate using pull-lift test method

Three kinds of surfacing layers the austenitic steel, niobium alloyed steel and hypereutectic high chromium cast iron were prepared on 1045 substrate by arc process with self-shielding flux-cored wires. The bonding strength between was tested pull-lift test method. experimental results show that layer is highest up to 549.1 MPa, fracture location near fusion line quasi-cleavage characteristic. 314.4 MPa mainly occurred at bottom layer, which also presents While as low 170.7 specimen ruptures along brittle properties are directly related compositions microstructures line.
